As previously reported... due to an infection, the staff replaced all John's lines and dialysis yesterday. The family is awaiting test results for the type of infection and the hospital staff had given him antibiotics to cover a range of problems. As of this morning, John's temperature was back down to around 99. This is good news. He was stable today and still heavily sedated and resting. He is receiving a lot of attention and visiting John for any amount of time has been extremely difficult.
We also believe John is in very good hands at Roanoke Memorial. The staff has been very forthcoming with information, pleasant to talk with and very caring.
Aside from his prescribed treatments, the staff believes they will begin to be more aggressive in reducing John's dependency on the ventilator - which they tried last week.
We all know how strong and independent John is and know that he can fight through this. Let's all continue to wish him the best as he battles through some of these difficult times during recovery.
The family has also been in contact with the Red Cross for plasma donation on John's behalf. There will be more information about this coming soon. There have been a number of munificent gifts to John and his family. Please know the family is extremely thankful and humbled by the generosity. You are truly wonderful people.

Bob, Your efforts of continuing to keep us informed of John's status is very much appreciated. Your endurance and perseverance through this emotional time has been a true example of the ultimate friendship. Thank you for being a great friend/brother to John.

I wanted to share today's devotion with everyone...The timing of this is perfect, as God's plan is as well:
ReplyDeleteHe Holds You in His Hand
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you…I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand…”
(Isaiah 41:10, AMP)
TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Is there something in your life that feels beyond your control? If you’re tempted to get discouraged, remember, as a believer, God is holding you in the palm of His hand. There is nothing too difficult, nothing too impossible, nothing beyond His ability. When God holds you in His hand, you are safe. You are cared for. In His hand, there is victory. In His hand, there is strength. In His hand, there is provision. In His hand is everything you need.
No matter what you may be going through today, you can trust that God is for you. Instead of getting down and depressed over your circumstances, look up and get a vision of God turning that situation around. Get a vision of His favor, promotion, and increase in your life. As you stand in faith, you’ll see those supernatural breaks that will launch you further ahead than you ever thought possible! Remember, He holds you in His victorious right hand!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father in heaven, thank You for helping me and holding me in Your victorious right hand. I choose to trust You even when things don’t make sense, even when things seem beyond my control. I release my cares to You knowing that You work all things together for my good. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
The Crushers Families are all praying for John's quick recovery. We missed seeing him at the baseball field last weekend and hope to see him back very soon. Shane is a great addition to our team. Please let John know how impressed we are with Shane's ability and maturity. John and Lisa have done a GREAT JOB with that boy
